Throughout the whole of Spring 1, Year 5 have been immersing themselves in an energetic and creative dance unit inspired by The Greatest Showman. Over the half-term, the children explored how to use different levels—from low floor work to powerful mid-level sequences and high, elevated movements—to add variety and impact to their performances. They worked collaboratively in small groups to choreograph routines, carefully matching movement to music and developing their timing, coordination and expression.

As their confidence grew, pupils refined their sequences, focusing on transitions, formation changes and performance quality. The unit culminated in vibrant, show-stopping dances that truly captured the spirit of the film—full of enthusiasm, teamwork and creativity. We were incredibly proud of the resilience and imagination the children demonstrated throughout Spring 1 as they stepped into the spotlight and embraced life under the ‘big top’!
