This half-term has been a busy and exciting time for Whitebeam Class, with a wide range of engaging learning experiences across the curriculum.
In Science, our topic was Light. We carried out a fun and interesting investigation using torches to explore how shadows change. We discovered how the position of a light source can affect the size and shape of a shadow, and we enjoyed making predictions before testing our ideas.
In Geography, we have been learning all about the world. One of our favourite activities was creating informative leaflets about the world’s deserts. We researched different desert locations, climates and wildlife, and presented our findings in creative and colourful ways.
We were also very fortunate to take part in a cricket workshop. During this session, we practised our batting, bowling and fielding skills, and had a great time working together as a team while developing new techniques.
Another highlight of the half-term was our trip to the Dorset Museum. We explored fascinating Roman artefacts and even had the opportunity to see a Roman town house. This helped bring our history learning to life and gave us a deeper understanding of what life was like in Roman times.
In English, we enjoyed writing our own nonsense poems, using playful language, rhythm and rhyme to create imaginative pieces. We then shared our work in a poetry reading session, performing our poems to the rest of the class. This was a fantastic opportunity to build confidence, practise our expression and celebrate each other’s creativity.
Finally, we had great fun celebrating World Book Day. Everyone enjoyed dressing up as their favourite book characters and sharing stories with one another. It was a wonderful way to celebrate our love of reading.
Well done to all of Whitebeam Class for their enthusiasm and hard work this half-term.
