Week 5 Overview

This week, we have continued our learning with more Rainbow Fish adventures this week, reading Rainbow Fish to the Rescue. The children explored how the little striped fish felt when he was left out and how his emotions changed when his friends invited him to play. We then consolidated our understanding with a comprehension task, showing great focus and thoughtful answers.

Maths has been all about money and number skills. We began with simple addition and subtraction number sentences and worked our way up to more challenging multiplication and division word problems, using our knowledge of the 2s, 5s and 10s times tables. The children showed fantastic resilience as the challenge increased.

We have also been busy across other subjects. In Science, we labelled both a bird and a mammal, discussing the key features of each animal group. In Geography, we compared Yeovil and Weymouth, thinking about how they are similar and different before finishing the week by designing and writing our own postcards.

To round off a fantastic half term, we were incredibly proud of the children as they presented their assembly about Sir David Attenborough to KS1. They showed great confidence, spoke clearly and did themselves proud. All of their hard work and preparation paid off, and the children should be very proud of the wonderful performance they delivered.

After five very busy weeks, we are definitely ready for a well-earned half-term break! 🌟
