Mayan Chocolate Mayhem

Mulberry Class enjoyed making and sampling Mayan Chocolate as part of their Maya topic.

Mulberry Class had a wonderful time celebrating the end of their Maya history topic by making traditional Mayan chocolate. The children were treated to their very own “Mayan mother” Mr Branch, who cooked their chocolate while sharing stories and fascinating facts about Maya life. They learned that the Maya considered cacao a gift from the gods and even used cacao beans as currency. As the rich aroma filled the room, everyone was excited to taste their creation and the whole class was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was—much smoother and less sweet than modern chocolate. The activity brought their learning to life and it was a perfect way to end their journey into the world of the ancient Maya.
