Autumn 2

Another wonderful half-term in Willow Class!

This half term has been a very busy and exciting one for our class, with lots of hands-on learning and creative activities across the curriculum.

In Science, our topic was Forces and Magnets. We carried out experiments to identify magnetic materials around our classroom and tested the strength of different magnets found around our school. We made careful observations, recorded our results and enjoyed exploring how magnets work in real-life situations.

In Geography, we focused on the United Kingdom. We used maps to locate and name the four countries of the UK and explored different counties across the country. This helped us develop our map-reading skills and a better understanding of where we live.

Our Art lessons were inspired by prehistoric times. We created our own ‘cave walls’ by making textured backgrounds and even mixing our own paints. We added handprints and produced charcoal drawings inspired by cave art from the past. The finished pieces looked fantastic and really brought history to life.

We have also enjoyed lots of festive Christmas activities. We made decorations for our Christmas trees, designed and wrote Christmas cards and created Christmas pudding pencil toppers. One of the highlights of the half-term was our wonderful trip to the pantomime to see Beauty and the Beast, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

It has been a fun, creative and engaging half-term, and we are very proud of all the hard work the children have done.
