What an exciting half-term we have had in Whitebeam Class!
It was filled with learning, investigation and discovery! The children have shown great enthusiasm as they explored new topics across the curriculum. We are incredibly proud of the effort and teamwork they have shown in every lesson.
In Science, we explored how forces and magnets affect the world around us. The children investigated push and pull forces and experimented with magnets to discover which materials are magnetic. They especially enjoyed predicting and testing how objects move on different surfaces, becoming real scientists as they recorded and discussed their results.
Our Geography learning focused on “Where in the UK?”. The children learnt to identify the countries and capitals of the United Kingdom and explored some of the key counties. We also researched major rivers and mountain ranges using maps and atlases to help us develop strong geographical skills and a sense of place.
In Art, we travelled back in time to the world of prehistoric cave painters. The class created their own paints using spices and fruit, exploring natural colour and texture. They also learnt how to draw with charcoal, developing shading and bold mark-making techniques inspired by ancient artwork. These techniques were combined when they created cave walls to draw onto.
We ended the half-term with a magical, festive week. The children enjoyed a variety of seasonal crafts creating Christmas trees from pine cones, making cards for their families, snowmen pencil toppers and pretzel snowflakes to eat at home. We had an unforgettable trip to the pantomime Beauty and the Beast thanks to Preston Primary PTA. It was a joyful way to celebrate all their hard work.
We look forward to even more learning adventures next term!
