This week in school we have been looking at artists from different countries to celebrate Arts week. The theme for Arts week this year is ‘Cultural Connections’ and we have focussed our learning on two artists. Esther Mahlangu is an African artist and Giuseppe Arcimboldo is an Italian artist. We have used these two artists as our inspiration and the children have enjoyed practising their cutting skills to produce two fabulous, creative pieces of artwork.

The children have had another fantastic week and are really settling into our learning environment. They have enjoyed exploring our outdoor area and the many arts and crafts activities in our conservatory. The main learning focus this week has been working collaboratively with others, by sharing and taking turns. We have also had a strong focus on fine motor skills and the children have enjoyed lots of fun activities that promote this skill. We can wait for next week, when all of our children come together in the mornings and we will have our parent teacher consultations in the afternoons.

Welcome to Reception!

The children have settled into their time at school beautifully and they are starting to learn the routines of our school. This week, we have focussed on learning our rules and routines. We have also practised our cutting skills and we were really impressed with how well the children grasped this skill.
