Art-  Showing emotion in the style of Charlie Mackesy

This week, Hazel Class explored how lines and marks can be used to communicate different emotions, inspired by the expressive drawing style of Charlie Mackesy. The children experimented with pencil drawing before using felt-tip pens and water to create a watercolour effect. They then used these techniques to create their own artwork based on a memory of being at the beach, capturing the emotions and feelings connected to their memory.

The children produced some wonderfully expressive and creative pieces. Well done, Hazel Class!

Geography- Discovering the world's longest rivers

Hazel Class have been busy developing their atlas skills in Geography! The children used atlases to identify some of the world’s longest rivers, discovering which continent they are in, the countries they flow through and their length. It was a great opportunity to practise our map-reading skills and learn more about rivers around the world!

Cricket

Hazel Class had a fantastic time taking part in a Street Cricket taster session with Sean from the Somerset Cricket Foundation. The children enjoyed a variety of fun and energetic cricket activities, giving the children the chance to develop their throwing, catching, batting and teamwork skills. The session was a great introduction to cricket, with everyone encouraged to have a go and enjoy being active.
