We were delighted to welcome musicians from the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra for the first of our two special workshops. The session began with an introduction to what an orchestra is and how it works, including the different musical families that instruments belong to.

Pear Class then had an exciting opportunity to hear live performances from two visiting musicians. Heather played the cello, demonstrating the warm sound of the string family, while Tammy introduced us to the oboe and its distinctive tone from the woodwind family.

To finish the session, we worked together to create our own piece of music based on what happens as the sun goes down. Our song "Close our eyes, yawn and stretch, fall asleep and dream" helped us to explore how music can tell stories.

The children were creative and engaged throughout and we are already looking forward to session two next term!
