Shining Through Remembrance and Responsibility

This week has been filled with meaningful learning, thoughtful reflection, and wonderful moments of leadership and community. From commemorating Remembrance Day with dignity to supporting whole-school events and guiding our younger pupils, the children have shown maturity, kindness, and a strong sense of responsibility. Here is a look at what we have been up to.

This week, Year 6 marked Remembrance Day with great respect and maturity. The children observed a minute’s silence during our remembrance service on the playground, where several pupils read In Flanders Fields by John McCrae and Darcey led us beautifully in a thoughtful prayer.

In class, we reflected on what it might have felt like to be a soldier during the war, and the children wrote powerful, emotive poems during our English sessions, which they confidently performed the following day.

In Maths, we have been working on line graphs and bar charts, as well as revising inverse operations and introducing algebra. We have made some excellent progress!

We spent Thursday morning with our Reception Class buddies, walking them to the church for their very first visit. The Year 6 children were incredible—responsible, caring, and engaging warmly in conversation with their younger partners. It was wonderful to see them stepping up to their responsibilities and truly enjoying the experience.

On Friday, we enjoyed celebrating Children in Need with a non-uniform day. Many pupils were excited to buy cakes from the sale run by our School Council and Guiding Lights.

The whole week was a brilliant celebration of learning, community, and kindness.
