  • It's all Greek to us!

Year 5 stepped into the past for an unforgettable Ancient Greece Day filled with creativity, discovery, and hands-on historical adventure.

Year 5 was transported back to the world of Ancient Greece for a full day of immersive learning, creativity, and fun. To begin the day, the children explored the rich storytelling traditions of the ancient Greeks by designing and crafting their own Greek story vases. Using traditional patterns and symbolic imagery, they showcased impressive artistic talent and a thoughtful understanding of the myths they have been studying.

The creativity continued as pupils brought a range of mythical creatures to life through imaginative junk modelling. From fearsome monsters to legendary heroes, each creation reflected careful planning, teamwork, and an enthusiastic engagement with Greek mythology.

In the afternoon, the playground was transformed into an Olympic arena, echoing the spirit of the original games held in Olympia thousands of years ago. Pupils took part in shotput, discus, and standing long jump events, embracing the challenge and demonstrating great sportsmanship throughout.

It was an insightful and memorable day that deepened the children’s understanding of this fascinating era, blending hands-on learning with active exploration. Year 5 left with new knowledge, new skills, and a renewed excitement for history.
