    • Christmas Week

      Published 18/12/25

We have had a truly lovely week celebrating Christmas together. The children thoroughly enjoyed a special trip to the pantomime to watch Beauty and the Beast, which was full of laughter and festive cheer. We also enjoyed our delicious Christmas lunches, which were a real highlight for everyone.

We were delighted to take part in a wonderful Christmas service led by Reverend Keen, which helped us reflect on the meaning of Christmas. A huge well done to all of our Year 4 readers, who read so confidently and made us very proud.

Throughout the week, the children have been busy making a wide range of Christmas crafts and listening to Christmas songs, helping to create a joyful and festive atmosphere across the school. It has been a magical week full of celebration, creativity, and community.

We would like to wish all of our Year 4 families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

    • Teeth Experiment

      Published 05/12/25

We carried out an experiment to find out how different liquids can affect our teeth. We used eggs to represent tooth enamel and placed each egg into a different liquid: milk, water, energy drink, squash, vinegar, coke, and orange juice. Over the week, we observed the eggs to see any changes in colour, texture, or shell strength.

      Conclusion:
We discovered that the eggs in sugary or acidic drinks, such as energy drink, squash, coke, orange juice, and vinegar, showed the most damage. Their shells became weaker, stained, or started to break down. The eggs in milk and water stayed mostly the same. This shows that sugary and acidic drinks can damage our teeth over time, while water and milk are safer choices for keeping teeth healthy.

This week, we have been celebrating and learning about a range of different faiths. The children used iPads to research a variety of religions, including both some of the oldest and the newest practices around the world today. They explored key beliefs, important festivals, places of worship, and special symbols.

After gathering their research, the children created a detailed two-page spread about their chosen religions. They worked thoughtfully and creatively, presenting their information with care and showing a real interest in understanding the similarities and differences between faiths. It has been a meaningful and reflective week for everyone.

    • Digestive System Experiment

      Published 17/11/25

Today, we have looked at the different parts and learnt their functions. The children took part in an experiment to show the different features of the digestive system. We used a freezer bag with orange juice for the stomach acid and banana and biscuits as food to show what happens in the stomach. The children took it in turns to churn the food with their hands. The food then travelled through the small and large intestines. We then cut the bottom and watched the food come out. The children enjoyed taking part and there were lots of laughs!
