Another fantastic week of learning in Year 1!
In English, we recapped the term adjectives and used them to describe four characters from Toy Story. The children came up with some brilliant words to describe their personalities and appearances.
Our History learning took us back to the Georgian Era, where we explored what homes were like in the past and how they are different from houses today. We even looked at photographs of local Georgian buildings, including The Manor Hotel and Aldon House, and discussed their special features.
Time has continued to be our focus in Maths. The children have been drawing hands onto clocks to show o’clock and half past, as well as reading the times shown on different clock faces.
In Science, we learnt the term transparency and explored what it means. The children then had great fun making their own glasses with different coloured lenses to investigate how light passes through materials.
We also began designing our fruit desserts, thinking carefully about ingredients and appearance—ready for when we get to make them later this term!
To top it all off, we celebrated World Book Day with a wonderful day of costumes and creativity. The children turned paper plates into their favourite book characters and even wrote their very own book reviews. It was a brilliant celebration of reading!
Another busy and exciting week in Year 1! 📚✨
