  • Week 3 Overview

This week our English focus was The Snail and the Whale. We spent time thinking carefully about the different feelings the snail experienced throughout the story before having a go at writing the story ourselves. The children produced some fantastic writing with lots of great detail and description.

In Maths, we consolidated our number bonds to 20 and 30 and applied this knowledge to both word problems and tricky missing number calculations involving numbers such as 11 and 21. The children worked really hard and showed growing confidence.

Art was full of creativity this week as we experimented with potato printing ready for our DT project. We also explored primary and secondary colours, mixing and creating some wonderful patterns and designs.

We have begun preparations for our class assembly for KS1 and have chosen to celebrate Sir David Attenborough. The children have been learning their lines and have shown great confidence with this already!

To end the week, we discussed the importance of VE Day, learning about the soldiers and how people celebrated the end of the war.

Another wonderful week of creativity, reflection and fantastic learning in Year 1! 🌎🎨📚
