  • Field to Food

Year 3 had a wonderful time on their recent school trip to the Bath and West Showground, where they took part in the Field to Food Learning Day. It was a fun-filled and educational visit, giving the children a real insight into farming and food production.

Throughout the day, pupils took part in a wide range of activities designed to help them learn more about life on a farm. These included meeting a variety of animals such as Highland cows, sheep, pigs and working dogs, as well as learning how farmers care for them.

One of the highlights was an exciting gundog display featuring Fig and her owner, which the children thoroughly enjoyed. There were also hands-on experiences, including trying to lamb a sheep and learning about the process of shearing sheep.

In addition, children had the opportunity to explore many other activity stations across the showground, all focused on different aspects of farming, food, and the countryside. Of course, a favourite moment for many was tasting some delicious ice cream during the day!
