Invasion and Settlement Thread

By the end of KS2, we want children to understand that:

• That the term invasion refers to people forcefully entering someone else’s land
• That the term settlement refers to people making a new home and community in a place
• Throughout history, groups have invaded and settled in new areas for different reasons
• Invasions can lead to a change in power and this can change how people live and their culture
• Settlements can grow into towns and cities over time
