Welcome Back!

We have had a lovely start to the Summer Term! We’ve been busy learning about Sharing a Shell and reinforcing our knowledge of lots of 2, 5 and 10s. We hope our wonderful commitment to learning continues throughout our last term in Year 1, hopefully with some lovely Summer weather.

Happy Easter!

A huge thank you to all our parents for all of your help this term. We have had a fantastic Spring Term and we hope everyone has a wonderful and relaxing Easter break. We will see you all soon for a fun Summer Term!

To end this term we learnt all about the importance of sharing in the book Mine! We also heard all about how busy home life can be in All in One Piece. A huge thank you to those who have shared a book this term and we look forward to more being shared as we go into the Summer Term.

Easter Service

Reverend David Keen led a wonderful KS1 Easter Service, celebrating the message of hope and new life. All children proudly wore handmade Easter bonnets which added joy to the celebration.

After learning about the Easter Story over the last few weeks Pear Class explored the story by creating their own Easter Gardens. Using soil, plants, stones and crosses they designed scenes representing new life and hope. They were all very excited to make their own gardens.

We got to enjoy the sun this week during an exciting cricket workshop. The children were introduced to batting and fielding through fun and engaging activities. A huge thank you to Shaun for organising a fantastic workshop.

Bring and Share a Book

This week we had two more lovely books shared. First we read the book The Bear Who Went BOO, hearing all about the funny adventures of a cheeky bear. To follow we read a book perfect for reading at bed time Goodnight Little Bear.

Pear Class explored creativity by designing and making delicious cold desserts. Through being hands on they measured, layered and decorated their desserts all while having fun! Some were enjoyed more than others but everyone had fun when making them!

We tested wood, fabric, plastic, foil and paper by pouring water on them, discovering which kept the teddy dry the best. We then discussed which material would be best, learning about their properties. We thoroughly enjoyed our day of being scientists!

Pear Class had a fantastic time crafting toilet roll animals to celebrate Global Recycling Day! Using recycled materials, we creat3d amazing creatures while learning about sustainability and caring for our planet.

We saw lots of exciting animals from meerkats to bears and lions and even managed to watch a bird of prey show! It was a pleasure to take the children as their behaviour was exemplary. Everyone had a fantastic time and we hope you enjoy seeing the photos.

To celebrate us entering the year of the Snake, we made our very own snakes and even got to taste different Chinese food!

This week Pear Class got creative when learning about 3D shapes. After learning about vertices, edges and faces we put our knowledge to the test and tried to make our own 3D shapes. We used magnets, Lego and Playdoh to make our shapes, finding some shapes easier to make.

Bring and Share a Book

This term we have swapped our Show and Tell sessions for Bring and Share a Book. Everyone will get a chance to bring in their favourite books to share with their friends. We started off well with The Three Little Pigs and Goodnight Harry. We look forward to hearing everyone’s stories over the term.
