Cookery Club (Year 2)

Welcome to our club page!

This was our last  session for spring term so we treated ourselves by making “healthy” strawberry cheesecakes. We used our careful cutting skills and spreading skills before eating our tasty treats!
Today we create strawberry balls. We chopped and mashed strawberries, weighed out coconut and oats and mixed in butter. We then had to get messy by rolling the mixture into little balls and coating them in desiccated coconut. After they had been refrigerated for a while, we had tasty, healthy snacks to eat!
This week in Healthy Cookery Club we made Rainbow Fruit Kebabs. We had to wash, peel and chop the different fruit before carefully threading them on to skewers. The kebabs were delicious and really nutritious!
This week we used our careful chopping skills again. We have made smoothies and had to chop the strawberries. We added other fruit, some spinach and soya milk, which we had to measure and pour. The smoothies were very tasty!
This week we made houmous. We had to drain and rinse chickpeas, crush garlic, juice lemons and measure olive oil and tahini. We also chopped celery and carrots to dip in our houmous. Yummy!

This week we mashed avocado, crushed garlic and stirred sour cream to make a guacamole dip. It was very tasty served with mini pita bread!

This week we created a delicious pesto pasta salad. We used creme fraiche and pesto and chopped cucumbers and tomatoes. We stirred that together with the cooked pasta. At the end, we tore some fresh basil leaves into our salad.
This week was our last week so we made a healthy treat...avocado chocolate mousse! We mashed avocado and mixed it with natural yoghurt, melted dark chocolate and vanilla essence. It was a real test of our patience, as they had to be chilled for two hours before we could eat them!
