We hope that you all had a fantastic Easter Break! The children have come back into school looking refreshed and ready to learn. We have had a very busy first week back....the children have experienced a relaxing yoga session and also started their outdoor learning sessions with Mrs Huggins. The children had a fantastic time at both of these and loved learning in our outdoor area. We were lucky to even see some sunshine  ☀️ 😊!

Library Visit

The children in reception thoroughly enjoyed our first school trip to Yeovil library. The librarian read us an different version of Goldilocks and The Three Bears, Goldilocks and The Three Crocodiles, which the children found very amusing. We were given a guided tour of the library and were allowed some time to look at the wide variety of books. One of the highlights of the trip, was the journey to and from the library on the coach. The librarian said that we were the best behaved school that they had had visit the library, well done reception!

                                                Mother’s Day Assembly

The children worked really hard to prepare an assembly for their mummies, where they sang songs and said the reasons they loved their mums. The children performed beautifully and spoke really clearly. After the show, the children then served drinks and biscuits to their mums. A great time was had by all, thank you so much for coming.

World Book Day

We had a fabulous day celebrating World Book Day. The children all looked fantastic dressed up as their favourite book character! All of our activities for the day were themed around stories and the children really enjoyed taking part in the ‘Stop, drop and read’, where we all had to stop what we were doing, and read.

Scarf Visit

The children had a very informative visit from Scarf this week, to learn ‘All About Me’. They learnt about what their bodies need to be healthy and which foods are important to eat. The children thoroughly enjoyed meeting Geraldine the Giraffe, thank you so much for such a fun session.

People Who Help Us- Dentist Visit

To continue our work about people who help us, we had a visit from a dentist and their team. They talked about what we need to do to keep our teeth healthy and discussed which foods are healthy and unhealthy for our teeth. The talk was extremely interactive and they showed us how much sugar there is in certain foods. The children understood that whilst it is ok to have these foods occasionally, they should be limited and kept to meal times. Thank you so much for taking the time to come and talk to us, the children thoroughly enjoyed the session.

People Who Help Us- Doctor Visit

As part of our topic ‘People Who Help Us’, we were extremely privileged to have a visit from Muhammad’s dad, who is a doctor in a&e. He talked to us about how he helps people who are hurt or poorly and gave us ideas about how to keep ourselves healthy and safe. The children had some fantastic questions and thoroughly enjoyed listening to the talk. Thank you so much Dr Bilah Ahmed for giving up your time to come in to speak to the children.

                                                            Pancakes
Even though pancake day was during half term, we still marked the occasion by making pancakes in school. We discussed Lent and Shrove Tuesday, and outlined the reasons ‘why’ we eat pancakes. The children thought about what ingredients they needed to make pancakes and then wrote lists of these ingredients. The children had lots of fun making the pancakes and even more fun eating them!

Chinese New Year

After a week learning all about Chinese New Year, the children in Reception performed a dragon dance through the corridors of the school. They made musical instruments and shook these as they processed along the corridors, under the chiffon body of the dragon. The other classes came to their windows to wave to us and seemed to really enjoy our performance.

The children in Reception were extremely lucky to have a dance and acting workshop from Razzmatazz. The session was based around traditional fairy tales and the children thoroughly enjoyed participating in various acting and dance activities, that were linked to these fairy tales. Thank you Razzmatazz for a lovely session, great fun was had by all!
