Week 11

What a busy week! Assessments plus a mix of some fantastic science activities. All leading to a mad scientist day where the children completed a whole day of fun experiments.

A huge congratulation to Siobhan who won her group and came second overall in the young writers’ competition!

Week 10

A fantastic trip to Yeovil College this week to take part in their STEM day. Sycamore Class were able to make their own carbon fibre key rings as part of engineering, brush up on their teeth knowledge with activities in dentistry and enjoy creating batteries out of coins and foil as part of science.

Week 9

A brilliant trip to Yeovil Country Park to learn about nature and the history of Yeovil this week. We were also lucky enough to be invited to Perrott Hill to watch their dress rehearsal of Oliver! Work Book Day was a huge success with lots of great costumes.

Week 7

Sycamore Class enjoyed creating their own Maya tools to replicate artwork found from the Maya civilisation. Objects found outside were fashioned together to create different ways to create lines and shapes.

Week 6

What a busy week in Sycamore Class. The children have completed assessments alongside presenting their geography projects on North America and North Somerset. There was even time to create a playground as part of our DT projects. We are all ready for a well-deserved break!

Week 5

A week of developing our skills in various forms of art in Sycamore. The children were very excited to put pencil to paper and start planning their DT playground projects as well as replicating the techniques of Roy Lichtenstein by creating some pop art in their sketchbooks. There was even time to learn a song and create our own flashmob dance moves in music!

Week 4

Online safety was a reoccurring theme this week. The children were reminded just how much of a digital fingerprint they leave online with social media profiles and the responsibility of using them safely at any age. They created their own (fake) social media accounts to review just how much information they are giving away and whether it could be reduced.

Week 3

A busy week in Year 6. We have started our artist study and enjoyed using Chrome Music Labs on our iPads. We also celebrated World Religion Day today by looking at a Qur'an and prayer mat as part of our upcoming topic on Islam.
