Week 9
World Book Day was upon us this week. Sycamore Class really enjoyed writing a letter to the children of Countess Gytha to let them know our favourite books an authors. They were even more excited to get some letters back. We also had a talk from SCARF about decision making and being responsible for our actions.
Week 8
A windy (but thankfully dry) trip to Nothe Fort this week. The children had great fun dressing up as evacuees and learning about what life was like during WWII.
Week 7
Welcome back Sycamore Class. I hope you have had a restful half term. We have kicked things off this week with making some periscopes to conclude our science unit on light.
Week 6
Our final week of the term. I think we are all ready for a break! We celebrated Safer Internet Day by doing a range of code breaking activities as well as games which tested our knowledge of how to stay safe online!
Week 5
Sycamore were lucky enough to be invited down to Preston Secondary School to watch their rehearsal of Oliver. It was a wonderful performance with great singing and dancing and it was great to see many ex-pupils involved. A wonderful opportunity for Year 6 to get a flavour of secondary school life and relax for a few hours.
Week 4
Another action-packed week in Sycamore Class. Lots of fraction revision and some amazing suspense extended writes this week. As they worked so hard, they had a spare 30 minutes to do some ‘free art’ and a chance to be creative.
Week 3
A busy week in Sycamore Class. A particular highlight for the children was our PSHE project on mental health. The children recorded videos on how to promote strong mental health based on the ‘5 ways to mental well-being’ (NHS). Lots of fun was had as the children wrote their own scripts and acted out the various roles!
Week 2
As part of our work in art, Sycamore Class were experimenting with making sculptures out of clay. Some very interesting and unique designs created!
Week 1
Welcome back Sycamore Class! We have come back in great spirits and ready to go during this short (but important) term. During RE, we acted out the parable of the unforgiving servant.
