For our first Computing lesson this term, we discussed online safety. We reminded ourselves of the rules of staying safe online and why it is important. Then, we used Scratch to create little animations. We programmed our sprites to say internet safety tips.

Science
Today, we conducted an experiment to investigate how water is transported within plants. First, we cut the stems of the flowers to make sure they were all the same length and we measured out the water to ensure it was a fair test. We poured an equal amount of food colouring into each cup of water so that we are able to observe the water moving through the plant.

Computing - Frame by Frame
In the previous lesson, we created our own flip book–style animations. In this lesson, we developed this knowledge, and applied it to make a stop-frame animation using a tablet.

Art - Creating texture
Our art topic this term is Prehistoric painting. For our final piece, we are going to be doing cave style paintings on a textured background that we will design to look like a cave wall. To create the textured background, we glued lentils, bulgar wheat, couscous and sand to some strong cardboard. After that, we painted over the top using the natural paints we mixed earlier.

Art - Prehistoric Palette
Today, we made our own paint using natural resources. To make the base of the paint, we used flour and water. Then, we added herbs, spices, coffee and charcoal to create different colours.

Today, we used charcoal to create our art work. We crumbled the charcoal into a dust. Using a paper towel, we spread this dust over our paper to create a textured look for the background. After that, using sticks of charcoal, we drew animals similar to the ones we practiced last week.

RE - Baptism
Today, we visited St James’ Church and Reverend Keen taught us about what happens during a baptism ceremony. We learnt that the holy water is poured onto people’s heads as a symbol of them being cleansed and about the role of Grandparents. Reverend Keen showed us the special robes he has to wear during the ceremony. After that, we acted our a baptism ceremony.

In Science, we have been learning about animals and humans. Our subject for this week was muscles. We discovered that muscles are attached to bones with tendons and they are needed to help us move. We made models of our hands using strings and straws to demonstrate muscles and tendons.
