International School Award 2021-24

Congratulations received from the British Council!

We were delighted to receive the news that Preston Primary has been successful in gaining their full reaccreditation for the International School Award (July 2021).

Please read below the feedback we received from The British Council.

"Preston C of E Primary School has been involved with international work and school partnerships for several years and currently has active partnerships with schools in China, France, Spain and India. It is clear that all the pupils have been provided with a full range of international activities, that will help them to become global citizens. Your reaccreditation has been approved. The range of activities that have been described meet the requirements for collaborative and language activities. It would have been useful if some individual activity evaluations could have been included, as it is not clear whether all the plans actually took place. I was very interested to read about the historical people the Chinese and Spanish children chose as 'people who have changed lives'. The World News activity is a great activity for encouraging pupils to take an interest in what is appearing on their TV news programmes and I am sure that the Friendship Tree activity generated a lot of communication between the youngsters at each partner school. The pictures that are on your school website of the Chinese dragon, international display posters and of your Language Ambassadors show that your internationalism is embedded throughout the school, so that is a credit to you. It is also very clear that you are 'spreading the word' with your ambassadorial work with other schools. Well done."

The International School Award (ISA) celebrates the achievements of schools that do exceptional work in international education. Fostering an international dimension in the curriculum is at the heart of the British Council’s work with schools, so that young people gain the cultural understanding and skills they need for life work in today’s world.

We have held the British Council’s prestigious International School Award in recognition of our work to bring the world into the classroom award since 2012.   Just before the end of the summer term 2018 we were thrilled to discover that we had achieved re-accreditation for the third time. Now,throughout this academic year we will be gathering evidence to support our action plan - aiming to retain the award once again for 2020/2021.
