Past event - Mental Health Awareness Week

10th-16th May 2021

Mental Health Foundation

During this week, we continued to promote the importance of looking after mental health to our pupils. It is proven that connecting with nature and going outside can make us feel good. Therefore, we will created opportunities for the classes to go outside and observe nature to complete activities such as sketching landscapes and writing poems.

Children's Mental Health Week

1st - 7th February 2021

We are delighted to have taken part in this year’s Children’s Mental Health Week to continue to promote the importance of our pupil’s well-being and emotional health. We had such a fantastic involvement in this year’s theme – Express Yourself.

Our school's participation involved an art project called 'This Is Me' where every child had the opportunity to create their own tile to contribute to a whole school art piece. Each year group had their own colour of the rainbow. When we are able to collect more entries back in, we hope to create our full rainbow in recognition of key workers during lockdown.

We loved seeing everyone joining in by wearing a fun accessory/hat to their teacher's chosen live call to take part in 'Express yourself'. We hope this spread some positivity and smiles.

The course includes four consecutive, 2 hour sessions and will take place weekly on Monday evenings 18:00-20:00. This is a rolling course; the first course will begin on Monday 1st February and will be repeated monthly until July. If you are unable to attend all four sessions, you can still enrol on the course.

#HelloYellow 2020

A sea of yellow entered our gates here at Preston Primary for World Mental Health Day. Aiming to raise awareness for the importance of looking after pupils' mental health, we decided to raise money for the charity YoungMinds with a #HelloYellow event. Spreading positivity, we discussed why we should talk about how we feel and motivating our peers. Every class made their own contribution, including: learning calming meditation methods, painting abstract art to portray our thoughts, some fun photoshoots and much more!

We hope our #HelloYellow day reminded our children to continue to be kind to one another and keep positive about the future going forward.

£412.73 raised. Thank you to everyone who donated and took part.
